EE 235 Solid State Recorder System

The EE235 SSR is used for real time storage of digital data. The SSR functions like a tape recorder. A typical application is recording of PCM Encoder / Telemetry data at bitrates up to 20 Mbps. The data is stored in FLASH Memory Modules with a total maximum memory of 8192 MByte. At 1 MHz bitrate input, the SSR with 2048 MByte memory can store 4.6 hours of data.
The serial data input to the EE235 is NRZ-L data and bitclock. There is no synchronisation to the input bitstream and thus no programming of the input signal characteristics. The playback data outputs are NRZ-L, Clock and BiØ-L at a selectable rate. The Format of the data output is identical to the input format.
The EE235 has been qualified and flown with the European ARIANE 5 launcher. The SSR is typically used in hostile environments. The EE235 modules may be installed together with the EE240 Encoder system in the same box. The boxes are shown in the 240 chapter.
The EE235 comes in two technologies, 256 MByte and 2 GByte per board. The SSR has two different plug-in modules:

EE237 SSR Controller Module
The Controller module has all external interfaces on a D-sub connector. Differential serial RS422 I/O are on the EE236 Power module. EE237 has one memory board of 256 or 2 GByte. The 2 GByte version EE237 has an additional parallel bus interface for data I/O, command and control.

EE238 SSR Memory Module
The Memory module has 768 MByte for the 256 MB technology with maximum 7 modules and 8192 MByte per system. The 2 GByte technology module has 2, 4 or 6 GB of memory.
